De Gruyter Brill launches rebranded podcast Sustainability Matters

    14 May 2025

Sustainability Matters, the podcast produced by De Gruyter Brill, takes a deep dive into sustainability in scholarly communications and beyond. It explores topics such as promoting diverse voices and marginalized perspectives in academia, the global accessibility of research, research ethics, combatting misinformation and more. Sustainability Matters features experts, advocates, practitioners, and De Gruyter Brill authors whose work on ethical and sustainable practices breaks boundaries, builds new bonds, and shapes a better future.

For us at De Gruyter Brill, these topics remain an integral part of our vision to be able to transform the world through the ideas of our academic collaborators. We believe in the ability and necessity of research to address the pressing questions of our time and we are committed to helping curious minds around the world bring their best work to light. We do this through our publications, but also other channels such as this blog and the Sustainability Matters podcast.

Join us as we explore how we can shape a more equitable and accessible future for knowledge sharing. Because sustainability truly matters, in scholarly publishing, and beyond.

Launched by Brill in early 2020, this podcast was originally called Humanities Matter. It has for the past years been a platform for meaningful conversations, offering a humanities-focused lens on global issues. Over the years, we’ve amplified diverse perspectives on topics ranging from climate change and religion to pride, fashion, and more. As De Gruyter Brill, we’re stepping into an exciting new chapter, where we explore what sustainability truly means in scholarly communications and beyond. With our new Sustainability Matters podcast, we’re excited to continue fostering impactful discussions—ones that shape a more inclusive, equitable, and accessible future for knowledge and discovery.
